Born in 1957 in Lyon, Robert Combas spent most of his childhood and teenage years in Sète. Since the 80's, he works and lives in Paris.

Robert Combas has brought, in the early 80's, a new figurative form of painting. His presence on the artistic scene has lasted since 1979 and created the "Figuration Libre" movement, formed with Rémi Blanchard, François Boisrond and Hervé Di Rosa.

His painting is made of liberties : society, violence, sexuality, misery ... Rock'n'Roll is his main source of inspiration.

In 2010, Robert Combas works are present in the Lacan collection. The iconic painter of the Figuration Libre becomes an engraver for a series of notable works.
